De Montfort University (DMU), located in Leicester, England, is a dynamic institution with a rich history dating back to 1870. Originally established as the Leicester School of Art, it evolved into a university in 1992, adopting the name of Simon de Montfort, a 13th-century Earl of Leicester renowned for initiating the first parliament in 1265.
Academic Excellence and Diverse Faculties
DMU offers a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across four primary faculties:
• Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities: Recognised as one of the UK’s leading institutions for art and design, this faculty provides over 20 distinct subject areas, including unique courses in contour fashion and footwear design.
• Faculty of Business and Law: Comprising the Leicester Castle Business School and Leicester De Montfort Law School, this faculty delivers courses in business, entrepreneurship, accounting, law, marketing, international relations, politics, economics, and human resource management. It maintains strong affiliations with major professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPD, CIM, and CMI, offering significant exemptions from professional courses across various subjects.
• Faculty of Health and Life Sciences: As DMU’s largest faculty, it encompasses the Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Applied Social Sciences, the Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy. The faculty offers a comprehensive range of courses, including nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, and biomedical science.
• Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media: This faculty includes the School of Engineering, the Leicester Media School, and the School of Computing, providing programmes in computing, engineering, media, and related fields.
